Rosé is to Provence just as champagne is to Champagne. Château d’Esclans, a magical property situated in the heart of Provence, northeast of St. Tropez, overlooks the Esclans Valley with the Mediterranean coast in the faint distance. The vision of founder Sacha Lichine, with his acquisition of the Château in 2006, was to create the greatest collection of rosés in the world, igniting the “Rosé Renaissance.” This led to the conception of a world-class rosé portfolio including Rock Angel, Whispering Angel, Château d’Esclans, Les Clans, and Garrus: a new generation of rosés characterized by elegance, depth, richness, and complexity.
Whispering Angel, the wine that started it all, was the entry rosé for a generation of consumers and paved the way for the rosé renaissance. As that generation continues to evolve as wine consumers, they’re able to explore more complex wines with the estate wines – Château d’Esclans, Les Clans, and Garrus. Eighteen years later, Whispering Angel has grown to become the #1-selling rosé in the U.S. and continues to propel the rosé category worldwide. The winery has become the fastest growing range of fine wines to be introduced globally during the past two decades, setting the tone for unprecedented growth.
In 2024, Château d’Esclans is expanding into new categories with the launch of the Rock Angel Luminous Bottle intended to excite, entice, and elevate the consumer nighttime rosé experience, making it the first of its kind within the industry. Château d’Esclans also partnered with Rizzoli on its first-ever book: The Book of Rosé: The Provençal Vineyard That Revolutionized Rosé By Whispering Angel and Château d’Esclans. This book provides readers with an exclusive look into the winery and describes how founder Sacha Lichine truly transformed rosé from more than a wine to a state of mind.
