Literacy Partners hosted their annual Evening of Readings & Gala Dinner Dance on March 14, 2018 at Cipriani Wall Street, raising over $1 million to further its mission to end illiteracy, one adult at time. The black-tie event included a reading from actress Sarah Paulson and New York Times Best-Selling author and Pulitzer Prize Winner Junot Díaz. NBC News senior legal and investigative correspondent Cynthia McFadden emceed the evening.
The evening included a tribute to Literacy Partners cofounder Liz Smith, introduced by Smith’s lifelong friend, actress Holland Taylor. The evening also paid tribute to the organization’s cofounders Arnold Scaasi and Parker Ladd. CBS News 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl presented famed writer, editor, and literary agent Joni Evans with The Lizzie Award. For his devoted work in literacy and philanthropy, the gala honored Randy Falco, President & CEO of Univision Communications Inc.
