Urban Cowboy

Urban Cowboy Hotels
Founders Lyon Porter and Jersey Banks stumbled into the hotel business after casual dinner parties at their Brooklyn townhouse, known as “The Cowboy,” gained popularity. In May 2014, Urban Cowboy Hotels was officially born, marking both a life and business partnership for Porter and Banks. In 2016, they opened an East Nashville outpost in a repurposed Victorian mansion, followed by The Dive Motel & Swim Club in 2019, a repurposed motel from 1957. In 2020, along with hotel developer Phil Hospod, they debuted Urban Cowboy Lodge in the Catskills. 2024 marked their first westward expansion with Urban Cowboy Denver, a homecoming for Denver native Banks. Today, Brooklyn is home to Cowboy Creative, the brand’s design studio, offering a range of services for residential and commercial projects.

Urban Cowboy Nashville
Located in a Queen Anne Victorian mansion in East Nashville, each of the eight suites has soaring ceilings, a claw-foot tub, a private bathroom, and its own distinct personality. Two communal parlors foster conversation and connection, including the Parlor Wine Bar, which is stocked with rotating wines, wine-based cocktails, and special live music and performances. The hotel’s in-house restaurant, Public House, is open to hotel guests and the local community, serving craft cocktails and award-winning Roberta’s pizza.

The Dive Motel
The 70s-inspired motel features 23 unique rooms, a dive bar that also serves as check-in, the Fat Elvis, an 18-foot bright red food truck serving up approachable eats, as well as a full swim club and 60-foot pool. An elevated poolside area hosts live performances and local DJs. Though tucked away at first pass, the retro motel’s proximity to downtown and stunning views of the area make the property a prime location for locals and travelers.

Urban Cowboy Lodge
Urban Cowboy Lodge is a mountain escape nestled on 68 acres in the Big Indian Wilderness, inside of the 700,000-acre Catskills Park, only 2.5 hours from New York City. The boutique hotel boasts rustic luxury accommodations dating back to 1898, artfully revived by Porter’s signature design style of bold patterns, repurposed structures, and handpicked Americana antiques with a commitment to elemental experiences. Guests have access to a hand-built Estonian sauna, nightly communal bonfires, miles of mountain trails, a forest bath in the outdoor soaking tubs, rotating programming from riverside yoga to bingo, and more. In 2024, the lodge introduced its new restaurant, The Dining Room, led by Chef Daniel Weiner, offering a fresh perspective on traditional Catskills cuisine, paying homage to the area’s rich cultural history and sourcing local ingredients whenever possible.

Urban Cowboy Denver
Opened in 2024, Urban Cowboy Denver represents the brand’s latest creation and its first property out west, nestled in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Downtown Denver. The 16-room boutique hotel, formerly the George Schleier Mansion, retains its historical charm while incorporating Urban Cowboy’s distinctive features such as freestanding claw-foot tubs, bespoke wallpaper, and handpicked antiques.

The property’s Public House, housed in the mansion’s two-story carriage house, offers signature cocktails and wood-fired pizzas by Brooklyn’s Roberta’s Pizza. Additionally, Urban Cowboy Denver also features the brand’s distinctive Parlor Bar, showcasing a curated wine selection in the downstairs lobby.

Cowboy Creative
Cowboy Creative is a full-service design studio and hotel-management company based out of the original Urban Cowboy in Brooklyn, NY, specializing in commercial, residential, and immersive hospitality environments.
