Urban Cowboy

Urban Cowboy Hotels

In May 2014, a boutique hotel and lifestyle brand dubbed Urban Cowboy Hotels was born when founders Lyon Porter and Jersey Banks fell into the hotel business after turning their single-family townhouse in Brooklyn into a five-bedroom inn. News spread of “The Cowboy” and the home Porter designed evolved into a community of travelers and artists seeking a refuge from the hustle and bustle of New York City. The brand quickly expanded in 2016, when they opened an East Nashville outpost in an artfully repurposed Victorian mansion. In spring 2019, the second Nashville location, The Dive Motel & Swim Club, followed. In 2020, veteran hotel developer Phil Hospod joined Porter and Banks to create Urban Cowboy Lodge in the Catskill Mountains. Today, Urban Cowboy Brooklyn is the creative collective behind the brand, providing design, consultation, and production services for residential and commercial projects. Urban Cowboy Denver will be opening in 2023 as the brand’s first expansion out west and a homecoming for Banks, with additional expansion plans in the pipeline.
