METHOD AND MADNESS is an ultra-premium range of craft spirits pushing the boundaries of Irish whiskey. Inspired by spirits that celebrate innovation and embrace experimentation, METHOD AND MADNESS Irish whiskey has been hatched from the minds of the Masters and Apprentices of the globally recognized Irish Distillers’ Midleton Distillery in Ireland.
In 2016, the creation of a new micro-distillery at Midleton allowed the distillery team to experiment and explore different types of distillates without disrupting normal production of their award-winning brands. A desire to innovate and be at the vanguard of the Irish whiskey revolution presented an opportunity to create an ambitious new brand aimed at the craft spirit explorer, and from there METHOD AND MADNESS was born.
The METHOD AND MADNESS name and approach were designed to stand out in the sea of spirit brands. Inspired by Shakespeare’s famous quote from Hamlet, “Though this be madness, yet there is method in ‘t,” it’s unexpected, and goes against convention, as many other brands draw from distiller family names, places, or history. This name is designed to reflect a next-generation Irish spirits company with a measure of curiosity and intrigue, while still respecting its Midleton roots. The whiskeys coming from this distillers’ playground provide a new taste inspired by Irish whiskey history.
The core range of METHOD AND MADNESS comprises Single Grain, Single Pot Still, and Single Malt expressions along with exclusive limited-edition bottles released each year. In 2024, METHOD AND MADNESS debuted its highly anticipated Garryana Oak, a homage to the Pacific Northwest with its melodic mix of earthy tones. This release goes beyond the limits of Irish Whiskey and progresses METHOD AND MADNESS’s innovative spirit, offering something completely new to the portfolio.
