The renowned collection of wines is shaped by legendary fifth-generation winemaker Joe Wagner, who has been immersed in the industry his entire life, learning the ropes from his father, who cofounded the iconic Caymus Vineyards in 1972. Since starting Copper Cane in 2014, Joe has launched numerous new wines, each with a distinct nod towards his personal style as he takes a hands-on approach to cultivation, winemaking, and marketing.
Belle Glos
Joe Wagner chose the name of this brand to honor his grandmother, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner. Lorna was a cofounder of Caymus Vineyards, an inspirational figure to Joe, and an avid lover of Pinot Noir. Today, the Belle Glos brand showcases distinctive Pinot Noirs produced from California’s most noteworthy coastal wine-growing regions. Each vineyard-designated wine is crafted to distill the purest essence of the locale into elegant expressions of California Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Böen
Born and raised in California’s wine country, Joe Wagner has devoted his life to the vineyard. Böen, with its ripe fruit flavors, bright acidity, and hints of toasty oak, is the purest expression of his signature style and exploration of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The brand name chosen by Joe translates to “The Farm,” a reminder to himself that the wines he crafts are indivisible from the land they come from, and that he is a farmer first and foremost.
Elouan
Elouan is the result of California winemakers venturing up to Oregon, one of the world’s renowned grape-growing regions. The goal: to produce wine with a depth of flavor and vibrancy from Oregon’s premier vineyards. The name Elouan means “good light,” which is reflective of the typically cool summers yet abundant sunshine found in this northern hemisphere wine-growing region which benefits the winemaking process. The unique climate, diversity of soil types, and gentle sunlight form the foundation of the wine’s northern character.
Napa Valley Quilt
Drawing from a patchwork of prime vineyards across the region, Napa Valley Quilt is Joe Wagner’s tribute to the character of Napa Valley and its rolling patchwork of vineyards. The Napa Valley Quilt portfolio includes classic, structured Cabernet Sauvignon, Fumé Blanc, Red Blends, and Chardonnay; the blending of fruit from a variety of vineyards allows for consistency and complexity from vintage to vintage. Napa Valley Quilt pays homage to Napa family farmers and proves that a wine’s character is inseparable from its history.
Threadcount
Some wines are made for occasions that convey not a single place and time, but an ethos unto itself. Threadcount is an extension of the Quilt winemaking style translated for more casual occasions. Throughout California’s most noteworthy coastal growing regions, Joe Wagner was able to select from a broad array of terroirs to blend wines that are quintessentially California.
